Michael Sanson

A pioneer
Michael is another pioneer of coaching within Europe. He is the past Founding President of the International Coach Federation (ICF) in Switzerland and was the lead organiser of the first European ICF Conference in Grindelwald in 2001. Michael is in the process of attaining his PCC accreditation.

Coaching style and niche
Michael's coaching style is insightful, challenging and caring, blended with strong intuition, some structure and lots of room for spontaneity.

Drawing on his extensive experience working in the commercial world, Michael mentors coaches internationally who operate within the corporate arena, or who are looking to branch into Executive Coaching. He also works with executives and senior managers in developing their leadership styles and in achieving more fulfillment in their professional and personal lives.

As a coach and consultant on leadership programmes at IMD, one of Europe's top business schools, he coaches individuals and groups of executives from leading international companies.

Academic research
Michael is an authority on academic research into coaching and executive coaching. He shared the stage with Mary Wayne Bush, presenting Research into Coaching at the 2003 European ICF Conference, the 2003 ICF Annual Conference in Denver and the 2004 Academy of Management Conference in New Orleans. He is also a member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Coaching in Organizations.

Training and background
Michael, a former Chartered Accountant, has an MA from Oxford University (Brasenose College), and a BSc (Hons) in Engineering Science and Economics. He is currently working on his Doctorate in Multicultural Management at the Institute for Leadership and Human Resource Management at the University of St. Gallen, pursuing some of the first research into the executive coaching business.
